Menards 10000 sqft bag is $16 AR. Don't need to pay for a name for lawn fertilizer...

Community Reviews

Scotts Turf Builder WinterGuard is a fall lawn fertilizer that seems to green up grass quickly and spread cleanly, with the larger bag arriving intact and working well in a hand crank spreader. The main appeal is the convenience of the Scotts formula and solid coverage for winter prep. The biggest drawback is value, since the bag now covers 4,000 square feet instead of 5,000 for the same money, and the price can look worse than Menards or Home Depot alternatives. Delivery restrictions and a 63 bag order increment also limit flexibility, making it best for larger, eligible orders.

I mean, I get what you are saying but have had mixed results with Menards in the past. The graduals are large and do not seem to adsorb and spread as nicely as the Scotts brand. This is my observation only.

I get that, but as long as it rains, it will spread. By the time it gets to the roots where it needs to be, it's dispersed. I can't pay over 2x for that minor difference.

I wouldn't pay to have it shipped. Just posting an option for those with local stores.

It ends up being expensive for me. I worked it out because it only does 4,000 square foot. I would need three bags instead of two bags like I usually get so it ends up being just as much or more

Used to be 5,000 sq ft, now 4,000 for the same money. Calling it: next one covers 3,500

Like swallowing poison to pay for 4,000 sq ft vs 5,000 but...still less than Home Depot cost per sq.ft...

The 12,000 foot bag is also on sale. I bought one about 2 weeks ago and it greened up the grass already and hopefully will make it stronger over the winter. I live in SW Pennsylvania.

Amazon shipped it in a really strong outer bag and it got here without any damage.

There were no clumps in the contents at all and I just used a hand crank spreader.

I was going to buy at Lowes and it was a lot more expensive.

Cheers.
