4,000sqft....Good deal for small property, but let's keep in mind it was always 5,000sqft...paying the same for less product is the corporate game everywhere nowadays

Scotts Turf Builder WinterGuard is a high nitrogen lawn fertilizer that can green grass up quickly and spread cleanly, with reports of no clumps and easy use in a hand crank spreader. The larger bag also arrived intact in strong outer packaging. The main drawbacks are the shrinking coverage, now listed at 4,000 square feet instead of 5,000 for the same price, and a delivery restriction in some states. The winterizer label is also questioned, since the formula looks more like a general fertilizer than a true dormant season feed.

  • Homeowners with a small lawn, because the 4,000-square-foot coverage can still fit a modest yard without needing multiple bags.

    NoStoneUnturnedMark42mc

  • People who want fertilizer that spreads evenly through a hand crank spreader, because it can break down and distribute without clumping.

    PurpleWalrus455NickH6927

  • Gardeners looking for a quick fall feeding, because it can green up grass fast and help it head into winter stronger.

    PurpleWalrus455

  • Shoppers who want a lower cost per square foot than a big-box alternative, because the price can still undercut comparable fertilizer on coverage.

    TealStep446

  • Large-yard owners who need the old 5,000-square-foot coverage, because the bag now covers 4,000 square feet for the same price.

    NoStoneUnturnedFangolioMark42mc

  • Buyers expecting a premium brand to justify a big price gap, because a comparable store brand can cost less for similar coverage.

    energyxenergyx

  • People who need to fertilize dormant grass in late fall, because the high nitrogen formula is better saved until spring when grass starts greening up.

    Frankie251

  • Shoppers in restricted delivery states, because the product can be blocked from shipment to the selected address.

I've had really good luck with nard's fertilizer! I've used the 🍁 fertilizer several times and it makes my lawn turn green faster than most of my neighbors lawns in the spring!

Not bad if yard is on small side and if you have Prime. With price of gas these days, you have to think twice before running out to buy anything. Make Amazon foot the bill for fuel.

''Increments of 63 are required. Please enter multiples of 63.'' Good luck with that, Farmer Ted.

"Winterizer," is just marketing. There's nothing in this that makes it any different than a summer fertilizer. NPK on this is 32-0-10 with 6% Sulfur. A "winterizer," should have more potash and less nitrogen, but this is very high in nitrogen even compared to other summer fertilizers. Nothing wrong with that except when grass is going dormant, it doesn't need high nitrogen and most of it just gets washed away. It's not available to me, but if I bought it, I'd save it until spring and put it on when the grass starts greening up.

Right, my lawn will be dormant and does not need the high N.

I get that, but as long as it rains, it will spread. By the time it gets to the roots where it needs to be, it's dispersed. I can't pay over 2x for that minor difference.
