The open box - excellent models are $800 shipped. Not terrible, but still just Z1E, which is aging.
Z2E ROG Xbox Ally X models are around this price. I know the Legion has 32GB vs 24GB in the ROG, but the Z2E is a much better chipset. Drivers have really improved it over the past year. There are certainly scenarios where you will benefit from the extra 8GB, but those aren't abundant given the power levels of these chipsets.
I wish the XAX had a slightly bigger screen. That's the real draw of the Lenovos for me - 7" just isn't big enough, so all of the games in my backlog that I "want to experience" or "really want to enjoy" I end up not playing. This is coming from a few years with an LCD SteamDeck, a few weeks with an original Legion Go (returned, Windows was horrible, controllers uncomfortable for me), and now a week with the Legion Go 2 (Z2 non-E), and trying several others in stores. The 8" and 8.8" screens finally feel "big enough" to actually feel like I'm playing and enjoying the game, not just fighting to see what is happening. But Windows/Lenovo have been horrible. If anything that's a big point in this one's favor, with official SteamOS support, but I am having issues with SteamOS on the LeGo2, and trying to figure out where to go - whether it's to this or something totally different.

yeah no shit, the 7 inch screens are way too small on these rog handhelds. the most important thing is the worst thing on them. even after the first one all the ones after that should've been upgraded to around 8 inch. idiots even released the ally x with a 7 inch screen. only now they upgraded to the 7.4 oled but yeah overpriced. go 2 z2e is even more overpriced at 2 grand these days lol ridiculous.

I remember when the Open Box deals were around $500 last year. Thanks AI.

I only ever buy a piece of used tech if it's 50% off list price, or more, for that very reason.
