Talked to a few hot moms who were getting ready for the weekend. I ended up taking 2 of them [cameras] home. Wink. What can I say?

Thank you OP

On a serious note, I have a few Wyze Cam Indoor/Outdoor v2 and v3. I'm retiring the v2 because its firmware remains at 4.9.9.3006 whereas v3 is current on 4.36.1721, as of today.

I'm about to set up my first ever Wyze Cam Pan. I'm disappointed to find out it does not have the magnetic base like the v2 and v3. I "mounted" my v2 by simply sticking its magnetic base onto the underside of my garage opener. Bummer.

Just a heads up these are becoming notorious for destroying SD cards and playback issues.

I have 2 of these, one has been in service for about 5 years now, one has been in service for a year+. I haven't had any issues with either except one for a few weeks (without me changing any settings) kept spinning itself and focusing on the wall it was mounted to. I reset the camera and now its been working correctly for the last 6mo+. Lots of people talk a lot of smack about wyze, but I have over a dozen wyze items in operation and I haven't had any issues except the one mentioned above with the pan cam.

The pan 3s that I have are absolutely the best. It's the plain v4 that sucks for me.

Could the problem be poor quality SD cards? A lot of read-write to the cards. Plus, many of these cameras are out in the elements. Mine are under direct scorching Southern California sun most of the day.I have no concrete proof whether it's the cam or the card. I'm suggesting there are multiple contributing factors.

I destroyed 2 high endurance Sandisk cards. And the pan location would change randomly. I had to set an automation to recalibrate every 6hours, same pan issue with a v4

Different hardware gets different firmware. Weird reason to want to retire something because of an arbitrary number, unless the v3 has some feature or progression in its specs you need.

It most definitely is the SD card quality. Took me 3 SD cards to find one that works reliably in the Wyze Cam OG. People will also be dismissive by buying fake flash storage (USB drives or SD cards) and thinking it's the company making garbage. The only way to get a good SD card is to buy it in person at a retail store. Amazon has allowed the well to be poisoned on flash storage, and you can't trust any card or USB drive you bought on Amazon, regardless of packaging or the name on the part. You must stick it in a PC and do read/write tests and speed tests to determine if it lives up to the claims on its product page. Or just skip all that and buy at retail in person, as brick-and-mortar gets it directly from the manufacturer and not a reseller who's stolen the product listing on Amazon.
