However, I was also sitting on a stack of 130 2.5" SATA hard drives that I never got around to selling back in 2022, and was close to getting rid of since they dropped from ~$10 per 500GB drive down to closer to $5 by 2025. It was hard to motivate me to test, bag and ship packs of 10 when I would lose something like $15-$20 per pack to eBay and shipping. RAMpocalypse and NANDageddon happened, and now the price for used 500GB 2.5" hard drives is back to $100 for a pack of 10. I sold all those drives over the course of a week. This has easily become my largest grossing year for eBay sales. There's even demand for decade old CPUs.
The drawback in all of this is more of my coworkers are doubling down on selling these things too. With great margins, comes great competition. Also, clients are less willing to replace working hardware when business laptops and desktops have doubled in price in just one year, so PCs bound for recycling have dried up, so only old junk is really getting replaced. It's really slowing the replacement cycle down.
