This is probably most useful for city dwellers who don't have cars and need to carry their laundry several blocks to a laundromat.
For everyone else, you can usually just get a large laundry bag for a dollar or two—or even get one for free from the laundromat—and carry your clothes from home to your vehicle and then from the vehicle directly into the laundry room.
For that reason, a bag like this would probably be unnecessary for most people. However, it could still be useful for other purposes, such as moving, camping, hauling gear, or taking on a long road trip.

After entering the promo code, did you remember to hit the "Apply" button THEN the "Use this payment method" button?
(I often forget to hit one or the other of the two buttons. Amazon has one of the most convoluted discount code system that I've ever encountered.)
