Can someone explain the point of a local "NPU" when all the AI models are internet/cloud based?

The NPU isn't meant to run online fronteir models. You would need 100's of GB's of VRAM to be able to run models locally. It's a specialized processor utilized by the OS for local light AI machine tasks such as searches or image processing.

Not true at ALL or no one on platforms like Salad or Vast would survive.. 24gb of VRAM (GPU) and 64gb or system ram is the sweet spot... 100's of GB's...really? Not even the highest end (consumer accessible) GPU's only run 96GB's.

With the exception of no backlit keyboard, this seems like a pretty good deal price wise. I'm going to be using this for work, I'm not a gamer. I use perplexity and Claude for administrative tasks and research. I do web searches, write contracts, use the office suite, normal work stuff. Can anybody give me an educated opinion as to value for the dollar? Thanks
