Did you know that even though most of these cans say "100% pure pumpkin", they are not REAL pumpkin but actually made from "Dickinson Squash". The more you know lol

I'm a huge fan of all things pumpkin!
But can anyone tell me why we need to import pumpkin from China? (Label) Not as comfortable with this deal now.

Get Libby's. Libby's pumpkins are grown in Morton, Illinois and the surrounding fields in central Illinois.

Community Reviews

Great Value 100 percent pure pumpkin is a budget-friendly pantry staple for pies, muffins, oatmeal, and even straight-from-the-can snacking. The canned pumpkin gets praise for convenience and for working well in recipes, with a 12 pack called an even better value. It also comes up as a mild digestive aid for dogs. The main knocks are that it can taste less rich than Libbys and that the label raises questions about imported pumpkin. A practical pick when convenience and price matter most.

Baked pumpkin goods are so full of sugar and pumpkin spices that the actually source of the pumpkin probably doesn't matter to most people. I would highly doubt 99% of people can actually taste the difference between this stuff and organic, expensive stuff.

On the other hand, if you're the one cooking the pie you don't have to load it up with sugar if you don't want to. The spices and natural sugars are where it's at anyway.

there are many recipes to lower sugar content or bake with splenda or other sugar replacements. You must be a lot of fun at the dessert table at the holidays! Big Grin

I like to add this to oatmeal with some cinnamon, peanut butter, and blueberries. It's a big bowl of mush, but it's strangely addictive.

I can. I eat it out of the can 5 times a week. Best brand I've had.
