Did you know that even though most of these cans say "100% pure pumpkin", they are not REAL pumpkin but actually made from "Dickinson Squash". The more you know lol

Community Reviews

This canned pumpkin is mainly valued as a convenient pantry staple for pies, oatmeal, and even straight-from-the-can snacking. The price is called good value, and the larger 12 pack is described as an even better deal. It also gets used for mild digestive upset in a senior dog. The main caveat is taste and sourcing, with some preferring Libbys or fresh pumpkin and questioning the China import label. A practical pick when convenience matters more than making pumpkin from scratch.

Baked pumpkin goods are so full of sugar and pumpkin spices that the actually source of the pumpkin probably doesn't matter to most people. I would highly doubt 99% of people can actually taste the difference between this stuff and organic, expensive stuff.

On the other hand, if you're the one cooking the pie you don't have to load it up with sugar if you don't want to. The spices and natural sugars are where it's at anyway.

there are many recipes to lower sugar content or bake with splenda or other sugar replacements. You must be a lot of fun at the dessert table at the holidays! Big Grin

I'm a huge fan of all things pumpkin!
But can anyone tell me why we need to import pumpkin from China? (Label) Not as comfortable with this deal now.

I like to add this to oatmeal with some cinnamon, peanut butter, and blueberries. It's a big bowl of mush, but it's strangely addictive.

Get Libby's. Libby's pumpkins are grown in Morton, Illinois and the surrounding fields in central Illinois.

I can. I eat it out of the can 5 times a week. Best brand I've had.
