Probably better to spend a little more for the Eneloop Pro.
Only if you really need the extra ~20% capacity. Normal Eneloops will have a much longer lifespan and lower self-discharge rate.

C & D adaptors? That can't work well.

Capacity: D batteries hold substantially more energy, typically ranging from 10,000 to 18,000 mAh for alkaline types, compared to 1,800 to 2,700 mAh for AA batteries.
Performance: The larger size of D cells allows for lower internal resistance and higher current delivery, making them ideal for high-drain devices like large flashlights, lanterns, and radios.
NiMH batteries have substantially lower internal resistance than alkalines.

Energizer Ultimate Lithiums are a different chemistry and non-rechargeable. Also, they predate Eneloops.
