It's a good buy if you're okay with a non pro chip in a semi* pro chassis. *1 Fan Vs 2 : Thunderbolt 4 Vs 5 : Lower bandwidth RAM 153 GB/s Vs 307 GB/s : 10 Core CPU and GPU vs 15/16 : BT 5.3 & WiFi 6 Vs BT 6.0 & WiFi 7Link : M5 Vs M5 in MBP Body : M5 Pro MBP -https://www.apple.com/mac/compare...-14-M5-Pro
Thanks for the breakdown. Apple's misleading SKUs are obnoxious
I'll just sell mine if I want the new one. I am not chasing new gear as hard these days! I still have a Pro 16Max. I hate smudges on my screen so I can't imagine using a touch screen glass mac. My good everyone will see the transfat oil on my macbook lcd

This one is a full redesign for the first time since M1
Speculated / Expected:
- OLED display
- Touchscreen
- Lighter chassis overall
- No ghastly notch, replaced by "Dynamic Island"
Among other things. But the downside will be that it'll be based on the M5 Pro and Max.
And if you consider that there will inevitably be sales of the 2025 M5 Pro/Max MBPs over the holidays, it becomes an interesting decision for a lot of folks waiting to upgrade...

Sounds good to me! I will sell what I just bought and buy that one.

It really depends on what you need it for day to day.
My case is I have a perfectly good M4 base MBP - but only 16GB memory. It's already straining under my average "pro-sumer" usage. I want a little more future proofing when it comes to memory atleast, so I might just sell my MBP, which will still fetch a decent price. And likely go for this 32GB model here OR the new redesigned MBP (which will be substantially more expensive - but who knows). Launch is only a week away so I'm waiting until I pull the trigger either way...

Microcenter used to do 15% off sales but haven't seen those in a minute.
