On some vehicles, you can easily reach in and relieve the pulley tension with a simple wrench or breaker bar. On others, the space is really tight and a tool like this is really helpful to quickly get the job done without swearing a single time. There are cheaper options available, but they may or may not have the particular combination of bits and pieces necessary for your vehicle.

All true. I bought this on a SD a few months ago and just swapped out my 06 Tundra serpentine this last weekend. Sure glad I had this. It was so tight to get the belt on I needed to hold this with one foot while I reached up and struggle to get the belt on. It wouldn't have happened if I didnt have this tool.

Darn good deal for an incredibly handy tool. A requirement for mid 2000s Toyotas for removing the serpentine belt, otherwise you have to lift up the car and remove the passenger front wheel to access the tensioner pulley with a normal wrench. The case for this is much more compact than your typical serpentine belt kit and gives great access to tight spaces.

Also works great for C7 corvettes.
