I snagged this the last time it was up on SD, because I now live in a city where I'm anxious about walking around people's houses in the dark.
I'm 6'2, weigh 200-215 depending on the week (stress of moving has resulted in me binging a bit on the snacks/candy) (took ~2 years to get down from 260 and I've been able to maintain for the last 4 years or so by walking daily and with portion control), and it doesn't feel like I'm making the pad work too much.
This has been great for dealing with my anxiety of going out and for not having an excuse to give up the walking routine. I've never owned one of these before, so didn't really have any expectations; doing 1 1/2 mile at 4 mph, with the incline starting at 4 and manually going to 12 for the last quarter seems to be a real worthwhile workout for me... as in, dripping sweat. But, I'm also old.
I always play music when walking. With this, I've been pairing my ancient phone that I use as an mp3 player with the pad, and it's sufficient for me; the audio quality's somewhat tin-cannish, but not enough to be annoying.
Soundwise, though, the pad sometimes squeaks. I have it on carpet, and it's not a constant sound, and could be my feet placement, but it can be a bit annoying. The sound of the pad itself at 4 mph is still a bit under a fan at full blast or a loud fridge, but it is something that would wake people up...
What absolutely would wake people up is the "POWER ON!" screech that's unnecessary when you turn it on. (Well, maybe for visually impaired users, but it's so loud.) Likewise, connecting to the bluetooth, which is unsecured (and why I don't leave it on) has an earsplitting "CONNECTED". These are trivial things, but they're annoying to me; and, for the cost of this, I'd expect it'd at least be able to retain your settings through power off; you have to mute the beeps every time you turn it back on. (Unless you like them, in which case, you don't.)
With the remote, to set your goal, you have to iterate through the preset programs (5 clicks) and then keep clicking to select whether you want a timed workout, mileage, or calorie; it's a bit tedious here, and you have no control over which display you're looking at (settings, or your current stats.)
This stuff might be standard on walking pads and just stuff I'm annoyed by as a neophyte.
My biggest gripe, though, is their app. It requires you be online, despite connecting with bluetooth, so they can try to upsell you a bunch of their workout vidoes. The control on the app is also reverse: Where you set distance with the remote, it counts down, but going with the app, it counts up, and doesn't stop at a given point (or I didn't figure out how to change that).
Those are nitpicks, though; mechanically, it seems to be worthwhile, and for the price and the privacy, I don't regret buying it, though for me (especially after buying a house) this was a pretty big purchase.
One other thing, though is, when their support is back from a long holiday (apparently "Weekend" means something different in China...) they are pretty responsive and helpful (I prefer to have digital copies of manuals, and there wasn't one listed on their page) .
Edit: using this in a 4th floor wooden apt and neighboards cant hear it while im using it (Day time, dont use this at 3am) Did purchase some walking pad matts and placed it below.
