I recently purchased these and the XM6 to compare. I did multiple international flights with both. I will say the XM6 immediately create a sense of "calm" when wearing them. They completely deaden most background noise and are great on a plane. However, the build quality felt cheap and the mids/lows were worse. I found myself wanting to wear the Momentum 4's constantly around the house and with my computer. Additionally, my ears touch the speaker portion on the XM6's, while the Momentum 4's take a bit to compress and barely touch. I installed XL WC Padz on the XM6 and the normal WC Padz on the Sennheisers, and while it did help with the ears touching in both (though not really needed for the Momentum's) it made the fit a little worse on the XM6. For someone with a smaller head, the XM6's felt like they were clamping at a weird angle. There's really no way to fix the clamping force on them, but I'm sure they break in eventually. I also felt like the ANC on the XM6's were making me a little dizzy at times.
That said, I bought the Momentum 4's for $160 open box at Best Buy and I run them with the WC Padz. The ANC isn't as good on the plane, but they are better in every other category for me. They also charge and play via one USB, where the Sony's do not. My ears get warm in these, but I think that's just the nature of these beefy ANC closed-back headphones.

Overall, it looks like the Bose QC line are the way to go for comfort. As these headphones advance, they have speakers getting closer and closer to the ear canal. I don't like it. It's like a dagger in the shittiest place possible. Even the budget ones, like the Anker Soundcore Space 2's went that route. It's getting hard to find headphones that you can actually wear without getting pissed off.

The premium XM is the Sony WH-1000XX/B The Collexion.
I used these for a year or two but had constant issues with the connection, as well as the headband material peeling out from the plastic. I got one replacement with warranty, and when that one started acting up within a year I went back to Bose.

For build quality and sound quality, Bowers & Wilkins.
For noise cancelling, Sony.
The B&W PX7 S2 for $150 is the sweet spot, if you can still find them for that price.
