Amazon Grocery ground beef is a convenient same day option for chili, burgers, and other basics, with USDA inspected 80 percent lean, 20 percent fat meat that has drawn strong ratings and repeat buys. The price can be very good when the $2.99 per pound deal and occasional $5 coupon line up, and the quality and flavor have matched grocery store and Costco ground beef in past orders. Availability and pricing vary by area, with some carts showing higher per pound prices or no deal at all. Country of origin is not clearly shown, which leaves a lingering mystery meat concern for some shoppers, especially once shipping is added.
Common Questions (5)
No. Availability and price vary by warehouse and address, and some areas show the item at $7+ per pound or as unavailable instead of the $2.99 deal price.
It is labeled USDA inspected and passed, and one buyer who cooked it reported no illness. The country of origin is not clearly shown, which is why some shoppers are cautious about buying it.
Free same-day shipping applies only when the order reaches the $25 minimum. The beef itself can still show a separate shipping charge, so shoppers often need to add other groceries to hit the threshold.
Yes, the deal has been available in quantities like 5 pounds for some shoppers. The listing also appears to have a purchase limit in some cases.
The flavor and quality were reported as comparable to grocery store and Costco ground beef. It is also described as standard grocery supply-chain meat, with hamburger typically coming in chubs and being ground at the store.

USDA doesn't require companies to disclose country of origin. That said, plenty of countries outside the US that have good beef...and plenty in the US with bad beef.

Like I already said, China did refuse to buy Argentina meat and they could still be rejecting certain shipments..The US media will air what their owners want them to report. If 50,000 pounds of meat was rejected , then I'm sure it wasn't an isolated issue. No need to respond.
ps. By definition, "currently" is not March 2026.
1. How did you get the 50% off from that $1.99 deal to make it even cheaper?
2. What's up with your fuzzy math there? $2.99 shipping on a $2.99 product doesn't make it $4 per lb…
Like telling you In-laws that you have special dietary issues and can't eat x food at the gathering because it causes severe digestive issues that your doctor has been warning you about. 😉😉
