Community Reviews
The JBL 305p is a compact studio monitor that stands out for clean sound and strong value in nearfield listening. Long-term use with JBL 305 and 306 models points to solid performance for music, guitar, and general desktop setups, and balanced connections can eliminate hiss entirely. The main caveat is setup, since getting it connected can take the right interface or adapters, and some systems still show a faint hiss or sensitivity to the electrical circuit. Its 5 inch woofer also leans more midrange than full bass, so a sub helps if low end matters.

That said, it's not the worst hiss I've heard and I'm pretty able to ignore it. I have noticed that the speakers are rather sensitive to what else is running on the same circuit (my Apt office gear somehow ends up on the same as half my kitchen...)
They are also easy if you use with non-intended equipment. Most computers output 1/8" TRS, simply get an 1/8" to 1/4" adapter an stereo TRS to dual TR splitter to connect to these. If connecting to AV equipment with RCA outs, just get an RCA to dual TR adapter.

Last year got the 5" for another room -just for guitar and Quad Cortex Mini.
