Stay away from Eufy!!! Clueless support staff, and constantly releasing broken updates to the app. Not worth the time or the effort to get this working consistantly.
Sounds like a personal problem. Have several different cameras from the doorbell to floodlight camera to stand alone cameras and haven't had a single problem with them.

What I'm asking is do you have to have the app at all to use it, or can it be accessed directly like an offline DVR
you have to have the app AND eufy does not work locally.. it goes out to their servers and then back to your network.

I burned all of my eufy equipment and went with something different.

Pro is a waste of money; it works almost the same as Home Base 3 that's all you need for less than half the cost.
But does it fix the wired network bug where the connection the HomeBase 3 randomly drops to 10/100 mbps from 1000mbps? That's been the most annoying part of the HomeBase 3.

Do you have Pro? Cause I have HB3 and it is straight garbage. All my Eufycams prioritize the HB3's crappy wifi signal even though my entire house has strong wifi signal throughout the house. As a result, live view takes forever to load and often times out.

After disconnecting the wifi wires inside my HB3, my Eufycams are forced to connect to my wifi connection. Now, live views load in 1-4 seconds.

I upgraded S1 since June, and so far it has been a great. It's a noticeable improvement over my older HomeBase. What impressed me most was how it handled a recent power outage. The S1 continued working properly even when my other security devices/camera didn't. No issues so far, a good upgrade if you needed, but you don't need it, if you are happy with your current one.

If you're going with PoE cameras that are going to be always on and always recording, you're better off self-hosting. I use several Reolinks and Frigate for that. I've been very happy with that. It does take a bit of figuring out, but your only cost is the hardware, there's no subscription.

I do have a bunch of Eufy's. I've been using them for 6 years or more. The app could be better. They've recently focused on changing the app icon TWICE in the last month but have never seemed to work on more helpful things like giving you the ability to snooze all the notifications at once (you have to go and change each camera individually).

Also annoying is about a year or two ago they started putting a DAILY popup asking you if you want to do a survey. If you dismiss it (it's small, so often you end up opening it anyway), it will show up again the next day, usually with a different survey. That's annoying.

I did get the Homebase 3 a few years ago. I initially put a 2.5 HDD in it. It worked ok but often was slow playing back videos. I eventually replaced that with a SSD and it was much better. I am glad I got it now.

As for identifying things... it's always been hit or miss. Sometimes it will pick up a cat or a bird, but then 10 minutes later miss the person who walked right up to the door. Sometimes it gets it all.

As for the camera life... I have multiple of the C210. The non solar ones. These have by far been the best. Some of them I've had for 6 years. I got 3 of the C22, a plug in outside one. They suck. These, oddly enough, did allow you to be able to hook the RSTP stream up to my computer system to automatically record, but then the camera would freeze up regularly and have to be physically unplugged and plugged back in.

I have several indoor ones (P24), though they aren't on all the time (usually just if I'm going to be gone for a while).

I also had a C220 solo cam, which died after 1 winter. That and the C22's were the only ones I've had issued with.

The only other camera ecosystem I've tried is Tapo, and as much as I was annoyed by Eufy I did think Eufy was easier to use than Tapo.

This home base unit works 100% locally. You'd save money by researching what you actually need instead of burning a product because you bought the wrong thing and blaming the company.
