Sometimes I just don't understand what's the difference between this machine and a one at $499 that looks exactly like this and with coffee that looks identical.

The price seems right. Anyone have experience with reliability?

Pressurized portafilter v regular. A 3 way solenoid valve. Is the water the right temperature all throughout the shot? These things have a huge impact on espresso flavor.

To be fair, most $500 machines would have the same shortcomings

I suppose. Breville really changed the game with the Bambino Plus. Consistent water temps from machine + non-pressurizied PF. I'm pretty sure the Barista Pro is a similar story. I think they use the new thermocoil.

Buy it and find out. (You can also spend 1000s you know). But get a Gaggia and good grinder and you will never go to SBs again. Buy this and experience buyers remorse when it fails, then go back to SBs after wasting time and money on a bad idea.
