I love my DeWalt tools, but the reviews on their string trimmers are surprisingly negative. Lots of reports of the head breaking after a few months of use, and it's difficult to get it replaced via the warranty. I was looking into this because I already have so many batteries, but I ended up looking elsewhere

Passing on this would be a mistake, imho. I bought one as a return and have used it for 2 years with weekly during the growing seasons with zero issues. Original head.

Below is the official response when I contacted Stanley/Black & Decker about the warranty on Dewalt tools purchased from Woot:
Woot.com is not an authorized reseller of DEWALT Products.
While Amazon is authorized to sell DEWALT, Woot functions as a separate company and sources product from unauthorized sources.

For an extra $20 (Home Depot), you can have three years of warranty. Worth the $20 in my opinion
