Do I just sign up for CVS account via email and then you get these deals like Extra Care Bucks?
Can someone explain this deal?
So if you buy 2 softsoap, it costs $3.78 plus tax but you get $3 Extra Care Bucks to your account? Softsoap seems to cost $2.69 each so I'm confused how this works? You can only do this order as a pickup order or can you do this order yourself and get the items and self pay yourself and get this deal?

Hello, happy to explain.
OK, the deal is for the CVS Brand hand soap, not Softsoap.
Yes, you should be able to sign up for a CVS account at their website, you'll be assigned a loyalty card # called the Extra Care Card. Once signed up, you should consider downloading their app to your smartphone and logging in there too to keep track of your account, extra bucks, coupons, etc. Some deals that come along have an app only coupon to clip that you can use on the website to order if you see a deal on SD that shows an app coupon is involved.
Once you are signed up and logged into the CVS website, follow the OP steps. You'll add to hand soaps as outlined to your cart, pay $3.78 + tax. You'll get an email confirm first for your order, and then a pick up notice email when your order is ready to be claimed at the store. Sometime an item can be out of stock, so always pays to check the next closest store to you if you have a lot of CVS stores in your area.
Once you pick up the order at the store, (you have 3 days typically to claim it) the extra bucks rewards on that offer will land in your account. typically within 1-2 hours at most.
In this case, you'll earn $3 extra bucks, once rewarded you have 7 days to 'add it' to your wallet on line to redeem within 30 days. you'll see the expiration date on the rewards, use it or lose it if you don't use by expiration.
You can then use that reward to buy $3 in new items at CVS or take $3 off a larger cost order. On deals, if the deal says "you can roll extra bucks" that means you can apply the reward to a new order with an extra bucks offer and earn new extra bucks.
Some cost based deals with ECB's, such as spend $20 on Olay Body Wash, earn $10 ECB is an example where the use of ECB's online will 'ding' you on your spend threshold. For example, you add $21 of Olay to your cart and apply the $3 rewards. This lowers your actual spend to $18 and you still need $2 more to hit $20. A good example of when NOT to use ECB's online. This downside doesn't apply to in store use.
Quantity based offers, like buy 3 Colgate Toothpaste, earn $5 Extra Bucks are always safe to roll ECB's on as the quantity isn't affected by redeeming extra bucks. If you have enough ECB's it is possible to pay $0 or just tax on an order and earn new extra bucks.

GOOD LUCK, hope this was easy to understand.
Okay so this is like Walgreens in a way then when you sign up with an email so you can order online for pickup.
When I order online at walgreens for pickup, it is always because of the online pricing for specific items. I order it online and then I go pick it up at Walgreens.
With CVS Extra Bucks, I don't even need to order online for pickup though? I could go to CVS and check if they have those items in stock. If they do, I can pick up those items and then either go to cashier to pay or use the self check out right?
Can you tell me what I do exactly now once I got my items and will go to cashier or self checkout? Is process the same either way? The only difference I assume is you can't pay cash with self checkout right? You always have to scan your barcode from your CVS account before the items are scanned right? But once it's scanned, will the promo be automatically added? Or if you self checkout, you need to manually apply this deal to it? Otherwise, you don't get $3 Extra Care Bucks for the order?
I heard once you have those Extra Care Bucks, they expire within 30 days? And you need to make sure you use all of them the next time you want to use it if you use a self checkout machine otherwise you lose your remaining Extra Bucks? Example, you have $3 Extra Care Bucks but you only spend $1. You lose the $2 right unless you do this at the cashier?

You can simply enter the phone # tied to your CVS account or scan your rewards card bar code to activate your rewards account at c/o. Same at Walgreens stores. Right, full amount of a rewards must be spent no matter where you are using them, no residual credit AT ALL., not like Wags Cash at all. However you can redeem any amount you have on an order as where Walgreens has set increments you must redeem.
As for Cash at SCO, I don't believe so. ECB promos don't have to be 'clipped' in advance, If you buy the items on the offer, you get the ECB's. but manu coupons and CVS promo coupons MUST be pre clipped in the app or website prior to shopping in store and online.
Sometimes online prices at CVS are cheaper than in store, so I recommend ordering online when possible. You simply go up to the front counter, tell them you have an online order in your name and they retrieve it for you. You don't get a physical receipt from them. The ECB's show up in your account soon after to 'add' to your wallet. YOU MUST ADD THEM, they aren't auto added. you'll see a button that says "SEND TO CARD" to click.

Okay so your phone number connected to your CVS account would do it. I didn't think about that. If you scan your rewards card bar code from your phone, it has to be done through the CVS app on your phone or it can be on the browser if logged in from your phone?
So if I get 3 Extra Care Bucks, I have to spend the entire 3 Extra Care Bucks the next time I want to use it? Even if done at the cashier and not self checkout? In general, do you make sure to not use any of the Extra Care Bucks until you want to use use the entire amount? What if you get $3 now and another $3 next week? You can keep a lot of it that way but you need to use it all within a certain time though.
Yes online pricing can be less than in store. That is why I order online at walgreens and pick it up at walgreens. If I buy same items at walgreens physical store, it would be retail price.
Okay so if I want to get this $3 Extra Cares Bucks at CVS but not do this online, first sign up for CVS account online first with my phone number. Then go to CVS store. Look to see if they have the 2 CVS soap. If they do, they cost $3.78 and tax. Now whether I go to the cashier to pay or self checkout, enter my phone number or scan the barcode. Once it's scanned, I then pay with my credit card.
Then later on when I check my account I would notice the $3 Extra Care Bucks is in my account. Then I have to add it to my wallet. Then the next time I want to use it, I use it right? How many ECB can you rack up? Since these expire after so and so time, it would be hard for someone to rack up even $30 right?

you will get a paper receipt at CVS for B&M order, the ECB's earned will print out and will also be on your account. You can have as many ECB's in your account as you earn, no limit. Based on when each is earned expiry dates will vary, each has its own 30day expiration. You can redeem part or all of the earned ECB's based on need. But each unique amount (say you have a $3, a $5 and a $6 ECB in your app) you can redeem any, 2 or all 3 based on your after digital coupon total. So if your total is $9 oop, redeem the $6 and the $3 and save the $5. If the $5 is expiring before the $6 by 2 weeks, you may choose to redeem the $5 and $3 and pay $1 OOP so you're not at risk of forgetting to spend the $5 before it expires.
Best way to learn from here on out is to try this soap deal first. get your feet wet, you'll get the hang of it. We all pretty much learn these deal specifics by doing, take it slow and you'll catch on soon enough, just as you did with Walgreens. The other nice thing about CVS online deals, there's no pick up minimum like the $10 one at Walgreens.

So since these Extra Care Bucks expire fast, would it make sense to use it all if you want to? Say you get $3 Extra Care Bucks now. Then get $3 next time and then $6 next time. The first $3 one is going to expire soon. Fine with just spending $15 or so on your next order if you have to buy something so you use it all up?
The thing is unless you keep buying things that gets you Extra Care Bucks, then use it if you do have to buy from there?
So because of that, it would be hard for anyone to have a lot of Extra Care Bucks in their account right unless they buy every single Extra Care Bucks deal there is?
