They had $50 for gig speed for 5 years for awhile, so this is an increase. Appreciate the post all the same.

There's nothing new about these prices. They look great until you add taxes and fees, then not so much.

Their previous deal of $50 as month is inclusive of taxes and fees.

Any deal can be considered good unless you live in an apartment or belong to a homeowners association. Apartment owners an HOAs can sell you to to anyone and there is noting you can do about it. It is known as Bulk Billing for multi-family units. It is legal in every state except California an there is nothing you can o about it except move. It overrides any plan you might have Elected officials will say it is terrible but will o nothing about it because there is so much money from ISP's to keep them in office.

Yet another reason to avoid buying a house that is held hostage by HOA membership

I'm seeing that the student deals require you to be a new user. I'd love to save $10/month on my gig plan but I'm not a new user and I don't see a price guarantee on the student offers. I managed to get a 5 year price guarantee on my current plan and Xfinity really likes to play games about increasing price without a guarantee.

How'd you get them to lock you in on your current plan? My previous deal just ran out without me catching it, so this month jumped from $60 to $105 -.-

I think I used this deal:
https://slickdeals.net/f/19992246-xfinity-new-customers-300-mbps-internet-40-month-or-1-gig-50-month-for-5-years-wifi-equipment-unlimited-data?src=SiteSearch
While it said it was for new users only, I was able to apply it to my existing account and address. I was on a slower speed (paying more) before which may have been why it worked for me.

This is a price increase, 1gig was $50 all year long basically until now when the 'deal' is $60. Most also received $100 or $50 gift card on top. Time to check out fiber imho.

You're right that bulk billing agreements do exist but they're definitely not present in the majority of apartment situations, and extremely uncommon in "HOA homes"

This usually only comes into play if your apartment or condo HOA has a deal with the cable or fiber company, and you pay for it as part of your rent or HOA dues.

I don't want anyone to be misled into thinking that you can't take advantage of this deal if you're someone who buys your own internet and pays for it separately (and happens to live in an apartment or has an HOA).

I think mine's about $.50 in taxes and fees on the $50/1Gig plan from last December.

Usually taxes and fees are much higher. Last December's plan didn't charge extra for modem rental fees and other normal junk fees. Not sure about the plans discussed in this post.

Only few states have taxes on wired internet.
