Tried this on at REI from the sale rack. This thing is as bare-bones, entry-level light windbreaker as they come. It did not block my breath from reaching my arm when I blew on the sleeves while wearing. I also held it up to the ceiling lights in the store and easily saw direct light through the weave in the material, so it's not water resistant either as raindrops will easily hit through.

Won't go so far as to say it's a pointless waste of material, as something has to hold the Arc'teryx logo on your chest, but seriously, why bother with this.

Light windbreakers like this buy me about 15 degrees of temperature comfort in the summer when there might be breezes or light drizzles. Also, they fit into a fanny pocket. Indispensable, really, but it doesn't need to be from this brand.

Personally I like the Patagonia Houdini at ~$120, though its not a stretch material. An even cheaper alternative is the Uniqlo UV parka at $50, but it's not as packable and the cut along both the hem and hood aren't ideal.

The Houdini packs down so compactly that its like a free layer that I can always bring on top of anything else I have with me.

Arc went to China. Stockholders will milk the name for profit. Same sad old story. Keep an eye out for Westcomb - eBay and stuff - made in Canada (BC) and the equivalent of Arc back when they were a Canadian product.

As soon as a product is sampled in China, for research to manufacture (eg business proposal), the actual design and everything about the product is cloned.

Gitzo ran away when shown a proposed tripod copy - lol thing had an embedded compass - and from there was born Benro, Induro, Etc.

My Squamish was made in Bangladesh and is my favorite light layer. I've skied in and out of bounds with it many many times. The folks above that are saying it's garbage are incorrect.

That said - if this one is from china I have no idea if it's the same as my 4 year old jacket.

I'm pleased that Dunning-Kruger keeps the good stuff from being wasted. Pearls-before-swine, as it were.

The Squamish Hoody is a long-running mainstay of Arc that escaped their whole Greek letter phase and now seems like a new product with their recent name scheme. It's been around minimally-changed because people would be up-in-arms if it was unnecessarily altered. It's literally a minimalist, super-breathable, super-packable windbreaker for high-output activities that won't soak you in your own sweat. It is for tweaking your comfort (and hence performance) over your layers, not magic armor that'll take you through a blizzard with only a jock strap.

It's definitely not for label-hounds, as it is utilitarian and basic. You might get side-eye from kids at a mall. On a trail, it suggests that the user might know what he's doing. He might be under-layered, but he's not soaked.

Thanks! Great point!
While skiing out West, I wear an Adidas windbreaker over my layers of compression, sweater/sweatshirt, NorthFace vest, and it can get HOT.
Even if this is not heavy duty, I like the packability (my Adidas windbreaker would pack down this small as well) and the color.
I'll update on the quality once I pick mine up.

UPDATE:
Thinner than my Adidas windbreaker, but not mesh material.
It is suitable for comfort on a brisk day or when it is slightly chilly but not chilly enough for a heavy windbreaker.
Packability is perfect. Similar to those thin packable backpacks.

Anything - everything - from Mountain Hardwear blows this out of the water.

Arc'teryx is in the crapper. Now owned/made by the same company that owns/makes Fila and Puma. It's aspirational wear for urban youth hanging at the mall who don't wear their pants pulled up all the way.
