I'm not up to date on HF lore; whats so special about the Icon G2 ratchets that makes them cost so much? Seems like huge prices for ratchet handles.

I use the Pitt Pro line (made in Taiwan). the roto head ratchets see the most use and abuse. No problem after +14 years. Back drag has never been an issue during engine rebuilds. Note that ratchets with very low back drag will have a greater tendency to slip as they age.

Noobs prioritize look and feel using Snap On as the reference standard. Price is probably the main selling point of Icon G2. I sampled several G2 ratchets in store. Quality control is a step above the Pitt Pro line, but no where close to that of Snap On.

Quality made in Taiwan hand tools from HF are strong and durable. They are great value with coupon and come with the best warranty in the business.

If you wrench on cars for a living, these are great alternatives to Snap on for 1/3 of the price. For the rest of us, GearWrench is much more sensible. GearWrench ratchets have a smaller head, less back drag and nearly as strong. Don't take my word for it. Go to Project Farm on YouTube and watch his comparison test. The Gearwrench got an A+ in every category.

Yeah the mat was 50% off.

Not super exciting seems like much of this is standard fare but I also know some of you are looking at items I am not.
