I have had a corded roto-zip for years and it has been great for my DYI drywall work. Before that, I used drywall bits for my Dremel, and in ancient times I used hand cutting tools. I strongly suggest the roto-zip style tools for anyone doing drywall.
DYI tip: If "your helper" accidentally goes off track and cuts way too much drywall, you can probably fill in the error with plaster of Paris. For instance, a ceiling box cut might be repaired by pushing a wood piece up to the defective area, with saran wrap, and then putting plaster of Paris from above.
