I recently inherited an Olympus Pen-FT half frame analog camera from the 1960s and have gone through a couple of rolls (it has started to get a bit expensive)
I like the film look, the grain and the intentionality behind this whole thing, but at some point, it's going to get... like prohibitively expensive. I need some good faith guidance.
question 1: should I continue getting better at film photography by just taking more pictures?
question 2: is it worth the expense to try and develop film at home and then scan it using a scanner from eBay?
question 3: are there digital cameras from ye olden days that I can buy that is affordable and not like a nostalgia throwback "here's a filter slapped on your image" sorta deal?
My goal is to take photos of moments and occasions and share them with family/friends.
What I don't like : computational photography. Just a preference, no judgement.

I have a friend who loves to take pictures. He has the best eye for photography, way better than me. He shoots with an older digital Canon Point and shoot camera. He has it permanently switched to the built in black and white filter and that's how he shoots everything. He then either just uses those images digitally or has them printed. He doesn't edit them in any way, shape or form and they all look amazing.
It kind of comes back to the basics, the camera or the medium doesn't really matter, you can take amazing pictures with the cheapest camera, and you can have someone with a $10,000 outfit produce garbage.
So that brings me to the land of digital cameras. Since I'm on a bit of a budget, could you point me in the direction of some models I should keep an eye out for?
