Some of us like the 12v line. If you despise 12v why would you click on a deal that clearly says "Dewalt Xtreme 12v"?

I never said I despise this crap, Just making the uninformed/new buyer know that it is unsupported!
Also, to inform that the superior 20v 6 1/2" DCS565 is sold "on sale" for the same price point!
Xtreme....lol, refer to it like it's something new, It's just DeWalt's marketing scheme, that people fall for!
Why does DeWalt still make 12v? Because the uninformed and people stuck in the defunct 12v ecosystem still buy this crap!

The free packs are 12V Max, so they won't run any 20V tools; that's the platform choice this deal locks you into.

same...this is one of two remaining 12V dewalt tools I have and the cracked hand saw I have uses the 20v to 12v adapter perfectly...not biting at $170 for a new one though!

Curios to know,
If you already own 20V batteries, why wouldn't you upgrade to the DCS565, instead of buying this at the same price point ?

link to that price? also I would honestly prefer a larger blade size but any deal is an option at this point.

You know that many of us run more than one battery system, right?

FWIW the 12V, 20V, and 60V Dewalt batteries can even use the same charger.

Ask me how I know...

Because it is lighter? Or easier to keep on track? Or fits in smaller spaces? Or takes up less space in your tool box.

If you can only get one, go nuts. If you have the need and the cash, you aren't really locked in to anything, are you?

That's fair, but 5 3/8" vs 6 1/2" isn't a huge difference.
You do know they make a 20v 4 1/2" DCS571 if you're looking for compactness in your toolbox or to use in smaller spaces and to keep on track?

Also, if you need batteries to go with the DCS565, This deal was just listed @ Lowes for $199 that comes with two 5ah batteries and a 4 amp charger.
$99 for the saw and $10 per ah on the batteries!

I own both, son. And a couple of the 6-1/2" saws (different blades because I'm lazy that way).

The DeWalt 5-3/8" weighs less, is a little bit shorter, cross-cuts a 2x4 EVERY time, and handles better because the grip is right over the shoe and not behind it.

The DeWalt 4-1/2" is the saw to use when you need to make a one-handed cut.

Any other real-world, actual user-based answers needed, you let me know. I might be able to help you out. Big GrinBig Grin

Maybe.

I have honestly used my handsaw for making long plywood cuts using the kregg saw guide instead of my delta table saw because it is just so much easier for longer cuts (especially when I am the only one doing the cutting). but agreed on your points of comparison.
