I was confused that the "Fault in our Stars" author would make a book about tuberculosis

I was very confused by this, too. Teaching college-level microbiology I thought it might be interesting to try it--a great book. Definitely a different direction than his young adult fiction (also excellent), but well-researched and very informative. He addresses in the book that he often becomes fixated on a topic of interest and tuberculosis became one of those fixations. An easy, gentle read even for those not so invested in microbiology. The audiobook (which he narrated himself) also very good.

Seconded. The title isn't burying the content either - really, everything is tuberculosis.

this book was absolutely dreadful. lots of wandering asides into his own OCD, he tried pretty hard to make this about himself. I was surprised a publisher/editor let a lot of that stuff through. but in it he recommended some other really good books on illness and society, one of which was Epidemics and Society, a really well done book
