I've had 4.5/5gb for years and only have been throttled a couple times when I was doing a lot of traveling with infrequent WiFi access. Use WiFi when you can, like home or work if available, and don't do data-heavy stuff when not on WiFi like high quality streaming. Lots of people that don't use their phones extensively would be fine with this amount. Checking your current average usage would tell you that.

This isn't as good as their $49/year deal, which I missed, so I asked AI about the deal. This may be helpful to others as well, and AI also said fees and taxes will likely add $10-20 to the total cost of this deal.
------------------------------------------

**Short answer:** It's a **solid deal, but not the historic rock-bottom price**. At **$120 for 24 months / 5GB per month**, you're paying **$5.00/month**, or **$60/year**. That's a good effective rate versus Infimobile's normal 5GB annual pricing, but it is **not as cheap as the $49/year promo** you remember.

| Offer | Effective price | 24-month equivalent
| **Current 24-month deal** | **$5.00/mo** | **$120** |
| Best-ever 12-month promo | $4.08/mo | **$98** |
| Black Friday/Thanksgiving 2025 | $5.00/mo | **$120** |
| Normal 12-month 5GB plan | $6.25/mo | **$150** |

The current deal includes 5GB high-speed data/month, 2,500 talk/text, eSIM or physical SIM, and requires new activation/upfront payment. Infimobile's own blog lists the **24-month 5GB plan at $150**, so **$120 is a real discount** off the current listed multi-month price.

Was $49/year real?

Yes. Slickdeals called the **$49 12-month 5GB plan** the "lowest price this plan has been offered for" in January 2026. A February 2026 press release also announced the 5GB annual plan at **$49/year** as a limited offer. So your memory is correct.

But it was a **promotional price**, not the normal Black Friday price. The **Thanksgiving/Black Friday 2025** deal was **$60 for 12 months**, not $49.

Is it likely to go to $49 again or on Black Friday?

- **Black Friday 2025:** $60/year, which is **the same per-month rate as this 24-month deal**.
- **January 2026:** $49/year, the lowest ever, but that was a separate limited promo.
- **Current early Black Friday 2026:** Infimobile's visible early BF offer is a **15GB/unlimited annual plan for $95**, not a 5GB doorbuster.

So **$49 is possible again as a flash or New Year promo, but I would not treat it as a likely Black Friday certainty**. A more realistic BF outcome is another **$49–$60 annual 5GB deal**. If BF 2026 is $60/year, two years costs **$120 — exactly what you'd pay now**. If it's $49/year, you'd save only **$22 over two years**, but you'd have to catch the promo twice.

Recommendation

- **Buy it now** if you need service soon, 5GB/month is enough, and you value locking in one activation for two years at **$5/month**. That is genuinely cheap.
- **Consider waiting ~4 weeks** if you're flexible and willing to chase a Black Friday/annual promo, especially if you only want a one-year commitment.
- **Watch the taxes/fees.** Infimobile's low sticker prices can be eroded by taxes and fees at checkout, so compare the final total before buying.
- **Risk note:** This is a 24-month prepayment to a smaller MVNO. That's fine for a cheap backup/light-use line, but I wouldn't prepay two years if losing the service or dealing with support would be a major hassle.

**Bottom line:** This is a **good B+ deal** — better than Infimobile's normal annual pricing and equal to BF 2025 pricing — but it is **not the legendary $49/year deal**. If you're not in a hurry, waiting for Black Friday is reasonable; just don't expect $49 with certainty.

I doubt it. They usually use these deals to draw you in and then raise the rate once it expires.

it renews at what ever rate is active during renewal.

this means, if this promo is still active in 2 years, you renew at this price. If a better promo is active, then you renew at that price, but if there is no promo, then it's regular price.

It's kinda unique that inifinimobile allows this. No other carrier allows this.

So they don't limit these promos to new customers only (in which case it wouldn't work for a renewal)? The OP in this thread made it sound like you need a new activation, but I don't see that mentioned on the deal on their website.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the 5gb plan cuts off after you hit the 5gb limit each month. But the 10gb plan throttles down to slow speeds after the allotment is used. I would not consider a plan that makes me top up when "high speed" data is out, my phone basically becomes non functional. So much depends on at least a slow speed connection these days.

as of the last few years, existing customers can renew at the promo rate.

but that doesn't mean they can't change this policy in the future.

honestly, this is a 2 year plan, I wouldn't worry what the price is in 2 years. A lot can change.

I am going on my third year of the 10gb/mo plan. I renewed for the same price I paid in '24. It is advertised at $75, but with assorted taxes it comes to a little over $90 for me. YMMV. I have been happy with the service, but I mostly use WIFI. There have been times I would have liked to have a hotspot included, but this plan does not. I see they are offering me a free hotspot if I upgrade to $120/two years for 12gb and the free hotspot. I am considering upgrading.

this is good for someone who isn't attached to their cell phone or for someone that needs an emergency/backup phone.
