What I find interesting is that, while answers (provided by REIservice) to questions in the Q&A sections of both shirts about the difference between the two shirts confirm this difference in fit, one does not. (Q: What is the difference between this shirt and the "regular fit" version that has a separate listing? A: No difference other than color options.) Perhaps this answer was given in error.
Regardless, the Regular-Fit in Black Heather is currently available for $20.93 (sizes M, XXL, and XXXL). Link below.

I ordered both and this definitely isn't true. You can also see it on REI. The regular fit has gussets under the arms - waist to armpit and armpit to wrist. Also the thumbholes are horizontal vs. vertical. Then the stitching is visible on the outside. It looks 'cheaper' in a way because of this, but it may be more comfortable.
