If this had 512gb at $500 I'd probably grab it. 256 is so low

take note the m.2 nvme is 2242 only (the short variant/typically harder to source) -- 32GB is soldered

I see $408 on ebay with coupon YUSFSI2LYL82P5CM, but they don't ship to APO/FPO. That's a deal with 32gb RAM.

I think it's https://www.ebay.com/itm/307251561697. The coupon might be select accounts only.

soldered ram is the main reason why people didnt buy this and sell the ram to data centers soldered ram basically drops the value of the laptop or macbook by 50% by default

Sad state of affairs. For someone looking for an affordable laptop, soldered will therefore be much better value. That's why this is so cheap in today's market.

I am guessing battery life would be crapped and it needs to be hooked up to the charger all the time

What's expensive is not the ram itself much less if it's already soldered into a working machine.

Silica didn't suddenly cost 3 times more, the issue is the production capacity and priotity.
