This refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7090 UFF is a compact, monitor mounted workhorse with unusually strong specs for the price, especially 32GB of RAM and a 1 year warranty. The i5 1145G7 is laptop class, so it is not a powerhouse, but the memory and small footprint make it appealing for homelab, Home Assistant, or other light server use. The UFF design can run from power delivery and is meant to sit on the back of a Dell monitor. The main cautions are limited upgradeability, soldered CPU, and concern that refurb parts like the SSD or RAM may be aftermarket. A niche fit if the form factor matches your setup.

Common Questions (4)

  • The 32GB configuration is a strong value because similar listings often come with only 16GB, and comparable systems are usually more expensive or lack a 1-year warranty. The tradeoff is that the i5-1145G7 is a laptop-class CPU, so it is not a powerhouse.

  • Refurb units may ship with aftermarket RAM and a replaced SSD rather than OEM parts, and the SSD quality can vary. That matters because the machine is often rebuilt from off-lease inventory, so component brands and long-term reliability are not uniform.

  • No power adapter is included with these units. The UFF was designed to be powered through a Dell monitor or via power delivery, so the adapter was originally an add-on rather than standard bundled hardware.

  • No, the i5-1145G7 is soldered to the mainboard, so CPU upgrades are not practical. The machine is best treated as a fixed-spec mini desktop, with RAM and storage being the main upgrade paths.

Minipcs in this price range will have much worse specs overall. You may find one with a better cpu, but it'll be barebones so it can't really compare

These were designed to fit on the back of Dell monitors to create an all-in-one, hence the unique shape

It would have to be. I have never seen a major retailer/newegg (other than best buy open box) provide a laptop or desktop without the power supply or cords. Either way, easy returns until next Jan via Walmart.com or in-store.

Great specs for the price. The CPU is a laptop CPU so this is not a powerhouse but for the price now you can't get better specs than this. Just be sure the form factor works for you.

Is this any good for light Fusion 360 and heavy 3d printing?

It's basically a laptop without the screen. You can get a similarly specced laptop for about the same price.

Seems like the SSD quality (and maybe other things) are very low quality and may die quickly: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin...r_quality/

Looks like a gateway drug device for getting into homelabbing. Pretty sweet deal.
