This refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7090 UFF is a compact workhorse with unusually strong specs for the price, especially 32GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. The UFF design is meant to mount on the back of Dell monitors, and the multiple USB ports and power delivery support make it flexible for a tidy desk or homelab setup. The i5 1145G7 is a laptop class chip, so performance is modest and the CPU is soldered, which limits upgrades. Refurbished SSD and RAM quality also draw concern, and the unit may not include a power adapter. A solid fit if the form factor matches your setup.

  • The i5-1145G7 is a laptop-class CPU but the overall spec bundle can still fit homelab workloads at this price.

    amdaxiomF1ForFun

  • The OptiPlex UFF form factor is designed to mount behind Dell monitors for an all-in-one style setup.

    dattguy

  • The system can be powered via power delivery, which can simplify cabling for certain monitor setups.

    StewartWenger

  • The unit includes multiple USB ports, which helps support everyday homelab peripherals without extra hubs.

    drew2money

  • The CPU is soldered to the mainboard, which limits upgradeability for future performance needs.

    CharlieC9067CharlieC9067

  • The refurb SSD and possibly other components may be replaced with lower-quality parts that can fail after months of use.

    c0bra99BlueRaccoon1085

  • These units reportedly do not include a power adapter, which can add an extra purchase if your setup does not use monitor power.

    msuguy

  • Refurbished quality can be unreliable, including reports of items that would not power on and defective returns being resold.

Minipcs in this price range will have much worse specs overall. You may find one with a better cpu, but it'll be barebones so it can't really compare

These were designed to fit on the back of Dell monitors to create an all-in-one, hence the unique shape

It would have to be. I have never seen a major retailer/newegg (other than best buy open box) provide a laptop or desktop without the power supply or cords. Either way, easy returns until next Jan via Walmart.com or in-store.

Great specs for the price. The CPU is a laptop CPU so this is not a powerhouse but for the price now you can't get better specs than this. Just be sure the form factor works for you.

Is this any good for light Fusion 360 and heavy 3d printing?

It's basically a laptop without the screen. You can get a similarly specced laptop for about the same price.

Seems like the SSD quality (and maybe other things) are very low quality and may die quickly: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin...r_quality/

Looks like a gateway drug device for getting into homelabbing. Pretty sweet deal.
