This refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7090 Ultra is a compact, monitor mounted desktop that stands out for its 32GB of RAM and strong value at $230, or about $218 with a coupon. The i5 1145G7 is a laptop class chip, so it is not a powerhouse, but the specs compare well against similarly priced mini PCs and many alternatives with only half the memory. The main cautions are the soldered CPU, limited upgrade room, and concerns about SSD quality and overall longevity. It is a practical fit if the unusual form factor and I O limits match the job.

Common Questions (5)

  • It is a decent deal for the specs, especially compared with similarly priced mini PCs that often have worse overall specs or half the RAM. The price has also appeared on and off all year, so it is more of a solid buy than a rare bargain.

    paliknightpalewookScrewUber

  • A power supply or cord is expected to be included, since major retailers typically do not sell desktops or laptops without them. The listing itself should still be checked, but this model is generally sold as a complete unit rather than a bare system.

    unomeiCEifer

  • The CPU is soldered to the mainboard, so the processor is not realistically user-upgradeable. That makes the included i5-1145G7 the main CPU you should plan around.

    CharlieC9067HonestCircle906

  • Yes. The OptiPlex 7090 Ultra form factor was designed to fit on the back of Dell monitors, creating an all-in-one setup.

    dattguy

  • Yes, these units can be powered by power delivery. That makes them easier to pair with a compatible Dell monitor or dock-style setup.

Minipcs in this price range will have much worse specs overall. You may find one with a better cpu, but it'll be barebones so it can't really compare

These were designed to fit on the back of Dell monitors to create an all-in-one, hence the unique shape

It would have to be. I have never seen a major retailer/newegg (other than best buy open box) provide a laptop or desktop without the power supply or cords. Either way, easy returns until next Jan via Walmart.com or in-store.

Great specs for the price. The CPU is a laptop CPU so this is not a powerhouse but for the price now you can't get better specs than this. Just be sure the form factor works for you.

Is this any good for light Fusion 360 and heavy 3d printing?

It's basically a laptop without the screen. You can get a similarly specced laptop for about the same price.

Seems like the SSD quality (and maybe other things) are very low quality and may die quickly: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin...r_quality/

Looks like a gateway drug device for getting into homelabbing. Pretty sweet deal.
