This refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7090 Ultra is a compact, monitor mounted desktop that stands out for its 32GB of RAM and strong value at $230, or about $218 with a coupon. The i5 1145G7 is a laptop class chip, so it is not a powerhouse, but the specs compare well against similarly priced mini PCs and many alternatives with only half the memory. The main cautions are the soldered CPU, limited upgrade room, and concerns about SSD quality and overall longevity. It is a practical fit if the unusual form factor and I O limits match the job.

  • The i5-1145G7 is a laptop CPU that can still deliver strong performance for the listed price.

    amdaxiomfintlewoodlewix

  • The OptiPlex 7090 Ultra form factor is designed to mount behind compatible Dell monitors for an all-in-one setup.

    dattguy

  • The unit can be powered via power delivery, which can simplify setup with compatible monitor stands.

    StewartWenger

  • A $10 eBay coupon can reduce the effective price to about $218.

    drew2money

  • The CPU is soldered to the mainboard, which limits upgradeability for future performance needs.

    CharlieC9067HonestCircle906

  • The power supply or cords may not be included, so buyers should verify what ships with the refurb.

    unomeiCEifer

  • SSD quality may be low and could fail quickly, which can create reliability risk for storage-heavy use.

    c0bra99

  • The i/O limitations can restrict the build to mostly single-use scenarios rather than flexible multi-device setups.

Minipcs in this price range will have much worse specs overall. You may find one with a better cpu, but it'll be barebones so it can't really compare

These were designed to fit on the back of Dell monitors to create an all-in-one, hence the unique shape

It would have to be. I have never seen a major retailer/newegg (other than best buy open box) provide a laptop or desktop without the power supply or cords. Either way, easy returns until next Jan via Walmart.com or in-store.

Great specs for the price. The CPU is a laptop CPU so this is not a powerhouse but for the price now you can't get better specs than this. Just be sure the form factor works for you.

Is this any good for light Fusion 360 and heavy 3d printing?

It's basically a laptop without the screen. You can get a similarly specced laptop for about the same price.

Seems like the SSD quality (and maybe other things) are very low quality and may die quickly: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin...r_quality/

Looks like a gateway drug device for getting into homelabbing. Pretty sweet deal.
