This wireless CarPlay and Android Auto screen is mainly valued for adding a touchscreen and backup camera to older cars without replacing the stereo. The mounting options include suction cup or adhesive, and the unit can also connect through Bluetooth, AUX, or an FM transmitter. CarPlay and phone syncing are described as smooth when the device is behaving, and firmware updates or app based patches have fixed restart and disconnect problems for some setups. The backup camera is the weakest part, with limited visibility and poor alignment called out. A dependable fit if you want a simple retrofit and can tolerate some setup quirks.

  • Owners willing to update firmware when wireless Android Auto gets flaky, because the restart and dropout issues can be fixed with a patch or app-based update.

  • Drivers adding wireless CarPlay to an older car, because the screen can mount on the dash or windshield and pair through Bluetooth or an FM transmitter without replacing the stereo.

  • Commuters who want quick phone auto-connection, because the unit can power up and connect to an iPhone within a few seconds when tied to ignition.

  • Drivers who want a backup camera they can route without fully running cable to the rear, because the camera wire can be hidden instead of installed end to end.

  • Drivers who need a rock-solid mount on a small or awkward dashboard, because the screen can shake and some mount setups can work loose or fall out.

  • People who want a set-and-forget wireless connection, because the unit can randomly restart or disconnect every few minutes.

  • Drivers who need a clear backup camera view for precise reversing, because the camera can be zoomed too far in and show very little.

  • People who expect smooth performance from a lightweight interface, because the screen can lag, stutter, and feel resource-hungry.

I bought this a few months ago when it was on sale. But it's keep disconnecting every 10 minutes. Please check Amazon reviews before buying this. Many people have same problem as I have with this unit.
Did you try updating the firmware? I bought a different model and they had a note in the box to update the firmware if Android auto drops out frequently. I followed that advice and never had any drops in my 2 months of use. I am interested in this model because it has camera and wider screen.

I imagine this would be cool to add to my 2012 GTI, but mostly to plug in my ROG Ally 7 and do a little gaming on my downtime at work. 😉
All hail the egg!!!

I bought the Krunia model and really liked it but the backup camera was very bad. It's almost like it was zoomed in way to far and the lines were off. I had to move the lineup line way over. I did run into the android disconnecting issue and did the fix. Pretty nice accept the camera.

The Krunia support was top knoch!

I assume all these just have a different manufacturer name on them.

Got this same exact model about 6 months ago. Car play/sinching is great. It's just the backup camera is pretty useless. It's not fisheye lens, so you can't see much. It's a compatible replacement for it?

Same experience but with a different manufacturer with the backup camera. I reached out to hopefully see another manufacturer had the same plug setup but could't find one to upgrade the camera quality.. fisheye

I found a CD mount on Amazon for like 10-15 bucks and that has been great. All my mounting options with the standard equipment would both block my middle AC vents and fall off, both of which are because Texas sucks and it's hot lol. CD mount though means it basically is just covering up my old radio that it's outputting sound through. Love it.

Does this automatically connect to your car's BT (when ignition turned on), and my phone automatically connect to this (assuming all paired of course)? My goal would be merely jump in my car, turn on the ignition, and all of that to happen seamlessly without user interaction so I can wirelessly do android auto stuff?

I bought this last night so thanks to the op, but I have a question for those of you that actually set one up. Does this device or its app need cellular internet connection to function after the initial app install? I have off-line apps for navigation I would like to try from a phone that is not connected to a provider. Thanks.

Do you have to plug it into the cigarette lighter power port, or can you use a usb connection? I currently have this adapter [amazon.com] plugged into that port, and was able to buy a usb cord that worked with my garmin gps instead of the one one that came with it. Having trouble updated the old garmin anymore, thinking of trying one of this for my old van.

I know I could by a different adapter, just curious if the one I have will work with this screen.

Also, will it work with this mount [amazon.com]? Or is there a way to put on this adapter [amazon.com] to make it work with the mount? I can't see this by the photos of the back.

Updated: Just saw a review that says it should work, would still welcome your input! Review said "Comes with a couple different mounts but it's also compatible with old GPS ball mounts so you can use an old GPS mounting kit if you want to."

This is cheap. Don't expect it to function like you want. Duh.

Probably better off with a cheap portable monitor.

I do have one but for some reason it's so resource hungry that it lags very easily and stutters 😢

Yes. I have a similar model. Works great. Love it. I have the fuse tap so when the car turns on it comes in and auto connects to my iPhone in a few seconds.
