I imagine this would be cool to add to my 2012 GTI, but mostly to plug in my ROG Ally 7 and do a little gaming on my downtime at work. 😉

Drilling is probably required or it's keep coming off right? Also what wiring is needed. Fuse tap? Audio feeds through aux?

Anyone have experience with this?

Not necessarily, their is a couple options. Theirs sticking it to your car dash or windshield, either with sticky strips or suction cup mounts. Theirs also CD and Tape insert that also has a mount for the screen. Basically it's the screen with a screw mount in the back that connects to a ball joint that you can switch to any of the above car attachments. Though you'd have to buy them separately. Also depending on where you attached it to when you drive the screen might shake because might not be the sturdiest of mounts. As far audio they tend to have a combo of aux cable in and out, bluetooth, and a Fm transmitter so your phone send music to the device, then it broadcasts it the radio station you have programed that you get on your regular radio.

I do not own this model but i purchased a similar one from woot that was on SD about a month ago. It mounts via suction cup to the windshield and the mounting works well. this item list says suction cup so i would assume this can also be mounted the same way.

However my unit isn't the best. IT works great when it works but every few minutes it will randomly restart. I have not found a solution for it yet and don't want to disassemble everything to return it...

I have no experience in owning such a unit but my dash cam kept turning on and off randomly. I found out the cig socket that was powering the dash cam wasn't fully seated/inserted.

edit: spelling

I have one and it's great. A while back, Google updated Android Auto and I was getting constant dropouts. I used this app to fix the situation and it's been great again.

I found a CD mount on Amazon for like 10-15 bucks and that has been great. All my mounting options with the standard equipment would both block my middle AC vents and fall off, both of which are because Texas sucks and it's hot lol. CD mount though means it basically is just covering up my old radio that it's outputting sound through. Love it.

I bought this a few months ago when it was on sale. But it's keep disconnecting every 10 minutes. Please check Amazon reviews before buying this. Many people have same problem as I have with this unit.

Wait some of you guys have never seen these things before? They come with a suction cup or 3M tape. It's firm and strong. For the backup camera. You need to wire it all the way to the back. You don't have to. You can just hide the cable. They're handy as hell if you want to add a touchscreen to your old car and don't want to spend money on a full stereo with CarPlay

I had the restarting issue and was able to fix it. If I remember correctly, it was a USB voltage issue. The tolerance on voltage fluctuations was too tight. A new firmware loosens it up and it can handle some swings. I believe most of these screens are based on the same hardware, so it affects a bunch of them.

I don't 100% remember the fix, but it was something like this. See if they have an app and install it.

Go to the home screen, instead of Android Auto, hit the home button on the unit, then pick something different, like Screen Mirroring. If you didn't find the app earlier, it will show a QR code to download their app. Then in the app menus it will then prompt you to apply an update. Once I updated, the unit has been solid.

These are similar fixes.

It seems like the 8% off at checkout is applying. I was able to get the code working by refreshing the checkout page a few times after applying it.
