LG's 55 inch C6 OLED stands out for deep blacks, rich color, and a bright picture, and it can work well even with the smart features turned off if paired with a separate streaming device. Pricing also looks strong, with the same set listed at Costco and BJ's for $999.99, and some qualified buyers can get it for $900 through Home Depot via AAFES with zero tax and free shipping. Burn in and app stability remain the main concerns, especially with reports of YouTube crashes.

That's awesome that you don't own a cell phone, well done!

Ive been eyeing the c6 (55) for a while. Ive never seen it under $999. And i dont expect it to fall under that even for BF, maybe -$50.
Ive seen reviews and whatnots but i was looking for real life advice from someone who's owned it for a while.
My usage will be YouTube and just streaming mostly.

All the tv's do it now. It's just that it's more known since Steve of GamersNexus did their exposé video. But even he has said all the other brands are doing it too and supposedly, they were working on highlighting some other brands doing the same thing. And as noted in another post, your cell phone is probably a far worse violator of privacy issues than your TV ever will be.

There was an LG G5 55 inch deal for $1000 in September (link below). I would be surprised if this doesn't go lower for Black Friday. I was planning to buy this TV, but won't because of the spying.

What's an AI TV?
A TV can watch shows for you, so you can free yourself to do other stuff?

This is why my LG TV is kept permanently offline with a streaming device (Nvidia Shield) hooked up to it. (You also don't ever have to agree to the TOS on the TV just to use it in offline mode)

It's a great display even with all the smart features cut off.

Mines just straight up blocked. No need to connect it at all.

I read somewhere that it still records voice (and video for the ones with a cam) and tries to connect to any open wifi or any other connected LG device and use it to relay the recordings back to LG.

Only way to be sure is to open it up and remove any microphone, cam, and wifi chip, lol.

Exactly. Even the cars you drive are equipped with tracking devices in real time.
