OLED uniformity issues (google me) can include banding - typically vertical banding you notice during panning shots and often with darker scenes - and also off axis tinting as mentioned above, as well as other issues.
LED uniformity issues issues typically include the ubiquitous dirty screen effect (DSE) you see with darker area visible with panning scenes with fairly uniform backgrounds like sand or lighter backgrounds like hockey, and vignetting where it is darker to the corners due to the different angle and the fact that VA panels have horrible viewing angles, but other issues can be apparent too.
Any TV you want to set up immediately and watch thoroughly with a variety of your typical content to make sure you can live with the almost always existent uniformity issues. The hockey DSE test on youtube is a very good test too. Some even go for slides of various tints to really expose things, but I find that to be a bit much. I am happy if I don't notice the (again almost always there) uniformity issues while watching my typical content like sports, movies, shows, etc. I don't want to make myself crazy(ier) with slides. The things you see cannot be unseen and these TV's all have flaws. You are looking for a panel you can live with. Minor flaws to the sides wont annoy you as much but a big dark spot near the middle of the screen or something like that once you see you will see all the time then yeah, send that back!
If you game then that's a really effective torture test as panning shots of sky and uniform backgrounds is going to expose DSE and banding really well, unfortunately.
Sadly most people are not aware of how common uniformity issues are or don't really look for it while in return period so manufacturers get away with selling these flawed panels that should have been rejected by QC. Basically for profitability with thin margins they don't throw much of anything out, even though they should.
If you deal directly with the manufacturer as with a warranty issue then they give you the run around and make your life a hell so just return it to the vendor like Amazon, WM, BB, Costco, etc., and you don't have to deal with that horrible torture. You have been warned.
