Costco's 14.2 inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB memory, and 1TB storage is being treated as a strong value at $1,349.99, especially versus Apple's $1,999 price and the newly launched M6 model. The Pro's better screen, ports, and fan cooling make it appealing for everyday productivity and lighter creative or development work, while the 1TB SSD is a standout at this price. The main hesitation is 16GB RAM, which can feel tight for heavy multitasking, Teams, large browser sessions, or demanding dev and AI workloads. Costco's 90 day return window and second year of warranty soften the risk if a better deal appears later.
Office workers and light creators who want a fast laptop with 1TB storage, because 16GB handles browsing, office apps, light Python, and light photo or 1080p video editing.
Developers running moderate multitasking, because the fan and ports help when coding, simulators, and heavier calculations would otherwise throttle or feel choppy.
MacBook Pro buyers wanting a larger screen and extra ports over a MacBook Air, because this model keeps the Pro hardware without jumping to the pricier M6 version.
Shoppers replacing an older MacBook Pro who want a strong value on a 1TB configuration, because the price is far below Apple's list price and Costco adds a long return window.
Heavy multitaskers with dozens of tabs and background apps, because 16GB can start disk swapping and feel cramped.
Buyers who want extra headroom for future RAM demands, because 24GB or 32GB is the safer choice for longer-term use.
Local AI and large-model work, because 16GB is far below the memory needed for serious on-device LLM use.
People who need a flawless checkout experience, because the order screen can freeze and some orders can be cancelled after placement.

Obviously if you have been feeling constrained by RAM you should consider the 24GB Air (and the tradeoffs betweeen the Air and the Pro hardware), and personally I would have liked to order the Pro with a 24GB upgrade for longevity, but I think this will hold me off until hardware prices stabilize.
