Buy a smashed screen M1 off ebay and swap your screen onto it. $200 fix.

Community Reviews

This 14 inch MacBook Pro pairs the M5 chip, 16GB of memory, and 1TB of storage with a steep Costco price cut, free shipping, and Costco return and warranty coverage. The deal stands out against Apple pricing and the newer M6 model, and the Pro still brings the better screen, ports, and active cooling that help with heavier work. The main concern is 16GB RAM, which can feel tight for lots of browser tabs, Office and Teams, or demanding development and AI tasks. It looks like a strong value if your workload fits the memory ceiling.

Costco has the 14" MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD (MDE14LL/A, item #1945139) for $1,349.99. Apple charges $1,999. It's on costco.com with free shipping, and most warehouses have it at the same price, though stock varies. The limit is 2 per member. You get Costco's 90-day return window on computers and a second year of warranty. The new M6 version just launched at $1,999, so this looks like a clearance price.

It all depends on a user's needs. The last MacBook I purchased 2 years ago was an air model with only 8GB RAM and I had to return it. 16GB is more than enough for my needs. This is a great deal, though, especially with the 1TB hard drive.

For 1350 it's absolutely fine. For a good local llm you need atleast 128gb. Get this for 1350 and get Claude or gpt subscription for 20/month. Rather than buying 32gb for 2-3k.
