This 14 inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB of memory, and 1TB storage is being called a strong value at $1,349.99, especially versus Apple's $1,999 price and the newly launched M6 model. The deal also stands out for free shipping, Costco's 90 day computer return window, a second year of warranty, and a two per member limit. The main hesitation is the 16GB memory, which may feel tight for heavier multitasking, Office and Teams, or future proofing. It looks best for general use and buyers who want Pro features without paying full retail.

Common Questions (4)

  • For general use, 16GB is likely enough for the next 4+ years, including data analytics, app design, video encoding, and multiple large Excel files. It can feel tight with memory-heavy workloads like Office/Teams or local LLMs, where more RAM helps avoid slowdowns.

    a_landa_landCC1478Frshh23

  • Costco lists the 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD at $1,349.99, versus $1,999 from Apple. That also undercuts the current 13-inch MacBook Air M5 with 1TB storage at about $1,600 and the new 14-inch MacBook Pro M6 with 1TB at about $2,000.

  • The clearance price can be seen online, but the purchase may need to be completed in-store. Stock also varies by warehouse, even though the price is listed consistently.

    ItechnofreakifyLias1017

  • If stock holds, the price may drop further as clearance continues. The current deal is already framed as a clearance price tied to the newly launched M6 model.

Costco has the 14" MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD (MDE14LL/A, item #1945139) for $1,349.99. Apple charges $1,999. It's on costco.com with free shipping, and most warehouses have it at the same price, though stock varies. The limit is 2 per member. You get Costco's 90-day return window on computers and a second year of warranty. The new M6 version just launched at $1,999, so this looks like a clearance price.

Buy a smashed screen M1 off ebay and swap your screen onto it. $200 fix.

It all depends on a user's needs. The last MacBook I purchased 2 years ago was an air model with only 8GB RAM and I had to return it. 16GB is more than enough for my needs. This is a great deal, though, especially with the 1TB hard drive.

For 1350 it's absolutely fine. For a good local llm you need atleast 128gb. Get this for 1350 and get Claude or gpt subscription for 20/month. Rather than buying 32gb for 2-3k.
