This 14.2 inch MacBook Pro pairs the M5 chip with 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage, and the standout is the Costco price at $1,349.99 with free shipping, far below Apple's $1,999. The deal also includes Costco's 90 day computer return window and a second year of warranty, with a two per member limit and stock that varies by warehouse. The main hesitation is the 16GB configuration, which feels tight for heavier multitasking, development, and memory hungry apps. For general use, though, the storage and Pro features make it a strong value at this price.

  • The 1TB SSD configuration can support heavier workflows where storage capacity matters for projects.

  • Costco pricing undercuts Apple's direct pricing while keeping free shipping on costco.com.

    Itechnofreakify

  • Costco's 90-day return window on computers and an extra year of warranty add purchase protection.

    Itechnofreakify

  • The Pro design can help avoid throttling during sustained heavy workloads thanks to active cooling.

    CC1478

  • 16GB RAM can feel limiting for multitasking and may trigger disk swapping under browser tab pressure.

    fintlewoodlewix

  • Office apps like Teams can cause memory to be "crunched," leading to poor performance.

    a_land

  • Local LLM use may require far more than 16GB RAM, with guidance pointing toward at least 128GB.

    bobredd

  • Some MacBook Pro configurations can show intermittent freezing, which can undermine day-to-day reliability.

Costco has the 14" MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD (MDE14LL/A, item #1945139) for $1,349.99. Apple charges $1,999. It's on costco.com with free shipping, and most warehouses have it at the same price, though stock varies. The limit is 2 per member. You get Costco's 90-day return window on computers and a second year of warranty. The new M6 version just launched at $1,999, so this looks like a clearance price.

Buy a smashed screen M1 off ebay and swap your screen onto it. $200 fix.

It all depends on a user's needs. The last MacBook I purchased 2 years ago was an air model with only 8GB RAM and I had to return it. 16GB is more than enough for my needs. This is a great deal, though, especially with the 1TB hard drive.

For 1350 it's absolutely fine. For a good local llm you need atleast 128gb. Get this for 1350 and get Claude or gpt subscription for 20/month. Rather than buying 32gb for 2-3k.
