This 14.2 inch MacBook Pro stands out as a strong value on Costco, with the M5 chip, 16GB of memory, and 1TB storage for far less than Apple pricing, plus free shipping and Costco return and warranty coverage. The Pro screen, ports, and overall performance make it appealing for everyday work and lighter creative or development tasks. The main concern is 16GB RAM, which can feel tight for heavy multitasking, local AI, large dev setups, or lots of browser tabs. Inventory and checkout issues have also shown up, so it feels like a solid clearance buy if the spec fits your workload.

  • Costco offers a 90-day return window on computers, which reduces risk if M6 inventory disappears.

    freshsqueezedT3QN1K

  • The 1TB SSD configuration can support heavier storage needs without immediately upgrading storage later.

    Itechnofreakifyfreshsqueezed

  • 16GB unified memory can be sufficient for office work, web browsing, and light Python or light photo/video editing workloads.

    Capetofreshsqueezed

  • Costco provides free shipping on the M5 14-inch MacBook Pro configuration, which can simplify delivery compared with in-warehouse pickup.

    Itechnofreakify

  • 16GB RAM can feel limiting during multitasking, especially with many browser tabs and additional apps that trigger disk swapping.

    fintlewoodlewixCapeto

  • Teams performance can be very poor and memory can get crunched even when running the Office suite.

    a_land

  • Checkout can fail when the order placement screen freezes and does not complete even after trying multiple browsers.

    BlNG0

  • Costco orders can be cancelled shortly after placement, which can disrupt plans to buy before M6 inventory changes.

24GB of ram with this is an actual upgrade over the M1. If you want to upgrade, that's a legit deal and enough RAM for almost everyone.
16GB has been plenty for me but I mostly do office work, web browsing, a couple of light Python projects, photo editing, and light video editing (nothing over 1080p). I don't use local AI and I disable it on any apps that do, including Siri on macOS.

Obviously if you have been feeling constrained by RAM you should consider the 24GB Air (and the tradeoffs betweeen the Air and the Pro hardware), and personally I would have liked to order the Pro with a 24GB upgrade for longevity, but I think this will hold me off until hardware prices stabilize.

Hodl? I don't think hardware prices are going to drop and probably not stabilize where they are either. They're just not making consumer RAM much anymore. All consumer products have pricing pressure upwards. We just get to see the deals here but other than deals, hardware prices are rather insane.

In for 2, thanks OP. This a great deal plus Costco's generous return window in case a better deal pops up during BF.

Price matched with best buy online. They were only able to do it to $1379 but I was told they should be able to refund me the difference

Order placement screen freezes and doesn't go through. Tried multiple browsers with no luck. Anyone else facing this issue?

100% agree, preference would be to have at least 24gb but the long return window is great in case a better BF deal pops up.

I had the same, but ultimately was able to place the order with the ship to and pickup from store option. I also changed the credit card I was using, but my money is on the pickup option.

Finally, I was able to place order with ship to home after multiple tries. Though, was getting the warning in my earlier message repeatedly before placing the order successfully. Hopefully Costco doesn't cancel my order 🙂.

Was tempted to buy this but both regular M5 (not pro) and only 16GB when RAM is becoming more critical. Going to wait for BF and hope for 24GB or 32GB even if it's an Air chassis.
