Sony A6000 has viewfinder but that is about it.
Noise Nikon Z30 modern EXPEED 6 processing and sensor design handle shadow recovery and luminance/chroma noise significantly better than A6000
Focus Z30 can lock onto subjects down to -4 EV, making it vastly superior for tracking or acquiring focus in dim rooms, evening events, or night street photography compared to the a6000's 0 EV limit.
Video the Z30 can shoot 4K and clean up to around ISO 3,200–6,400 with usable results at ISO 12,800, whereas the a6000 is heavily restricted in low-light video capabilities and limited to 1080p with a lower bitrate.
Thanks to its newer sensor technology and processor generation.
.
I am wedding/portrait photographer and shoot both Sony and Nikon.
I love my Sony AF and they are the best.
but i stand by my comment. Nikon Z30 is much much better camera than Sony A6000 by reasons I mentioned.
Something eight years newer is going to have far better video codecs, faster autofocus, improved low-light performance, better sensor dynamic range, USB-C (!!!!), and several other quality-of-life upgrades.
Sure, Sony has a large library of glass. But you're only using one lens at a time, and I'm sure there's a piece of Nikon glass out there that can beat a piece of Sony glass. They're not all "better". Also, how many versions of a 50mm prime do you really need? Or can afford?
Let me rephrase -- at this price point of $400-600, that user would clearly be entry-level. It'd be a safe bet to assume they're not in the market (as in "does not even remotely have the budget") for a higher end piece of glass. When you're battling kit lens vs. kit lens, you're getting a kit lens. They're all.... fine. Ish.
Sure, Sony has some pretty good autofocus. But I strongly doubt something eight years old is going to outperform a modern camera. And even if it does, it's going to be by such small amount, the other quality of life upgrades are going to matter more.
If you already have an older camera and are happy with it, excellent! Keep using it and have fun. Genuinely. Lean into what makes your device and platform great. But you can't forget that new stuff comes out all the time, and at some point, you'll be leapfrogged. But keep using it as long as you're happy with it.
