For the people that prefer Denon and considering the X2800H.
GT has the new X2900H for $999.
Has a few perks, a big one is access to Dirac Live(only).
Looking back at the last 5 years on here, it seems that's all people need/want, no loss.

Luckily you only pay for it if you choose to.
Especially with the advent of A1EVO, you likely won't need it!

Not exactly on topic, but what is Denon planning for the naming/numbering for next year?

Well this just recently came out so the next one probably won't come until 2028/2029.
Most likely would be 2901.

They typically release a new model in each line every year. So I was curious what will happen with 2900, 3900 and 4900 for the next iteration. Perhaps you are right and they go with 01.

Well the 2800 was released in 2022.

Companies haven't released new AVRs every year since before the Pandemic. It makes no sense to update so frequently since there's very little to offer technology-wise going from one year to the next.

This 2900 offers the base Dirac license for the 1st time in the 2xxx series. My suggestion is if you want to test the waters w/Dirac, you're better off paying a little more for the 3900. BF is just around the corner...

Huh!?
Pay "a little more"!....$1800 + $300 to test Dirac!!!

You can get the exact same "base Dirac" license right now included on the Onkyo 7100 for $600!!!

Note that the 3900 is "limp mode free" and you are paying for that (not to mention capable of SOTA RC in Dirac ART). All the Onkyos posted on SD for $600-$800 have the "limp mode". You buy what you're comfortable with. I'm guessing the 3900 will be available on BF for less than $1800 but we won't know for another couple of weeks).

(supermanrob, now's your chance to completely downplay Dirac ART, which you paid $800+ for as you claim)

So wait, no longer "test Dirac" but now it's pay for access to ART!?
So $1800 +,not $300 but $800!!
Especially since ART has ZERO benefit unless you buy(own) it!

I would(have) ask, since you "up play" ART so often, why don't you own it?
BTW I paid $560 for ART.

"Limp mode" is just a measurement issue, not a practical/sonic one!
You have plenty of proof from owners these last 5+ years!
Here is another example, just go to the 15:40 mark.
Pretty interesting video overall also.
I came to the same conclusion on the RZ30 on a 9 channel SVS Prime/Ultra setup.

Didn't see the above comments about the 7100. Slickdeals won't allow me to delete my comment so here is a quote from Onkyo's documentation. The 7100 includes the full Dirac license.

"This means that Dirac Live will correct the full bandwidth range (20Hz-20kHz). This option is included in all Onkyo multi-channel Dirac Live-equipped AVRs, for no extra charge."

I would add some clarification.

This correction is for loudspeakers only, it doesn't include subwoofer/bass.
It will calculate it into it so you should do the correction prior to running Dirac calibration.

This nor the 7100 offer access to Dirac's subwoofer/bass correction(Dirac Live Bass Control).
