I'm new to 3d printing but I believe there are engineering plastics that will be okay at 280 degrees. I'm sure some brands and specific types need over 300. Is there any unit close to $150 that can handle the filaments you are talking about?

This is a stellar good deal for a very fast printer that does a solid, good job. This is *almost* and easy pick over the Bambu A1 mini that runs $200. While the regular A1 has a bigger (255^2 vs 220^2) build area vs this one, the mini is smaller (180^2). Also, many older models were designed around the 220mm build plates as those were the standard for things like the Ender3. The only place where this is going to be inferior to the Bambu A1 mini is if you want to use the Bambu ecosystem. That is downloading files off the web and letting the downloaded file tell the printer how to setup the print. That is the biggest gap between Bambu and Flashforge. It's not the basic quality of the printer.

The only reason I would say no to this is the multi color AD5X is only $37 more. So maybe that makes this a bad buy?

Agreed... this is a good deal on its own but the upgrade fee to the ad5x is well worth it. I have several flashforge machines and if I were to choose between these 2 I think the 5x is the better buy.

Bought this before I saw the AD5X deal. Worth returning this one to get the ADX5?

I have both and use both. The 5x is more versatile. If I were to only have 1, it'd be the 5x if for no other reason than the way the ifs loads. Not that the 5m is hard , the 5x is just more of a simple process. Also the nozzle change is a little easier on the 5x.

Should I get this one.... or is there a Bambu labs one I should get instead.

I'm fairly new to 3d printing, but I don't mind a little tweaking and tinkering.

I'm new to this as well but there really doesn't seem like a better deal than one of these to get into 3d printing. Its core XY which people seem to lean towards over bedslingers like a lower model Bambu Labs. Its $140 which is so cheap for a 3d printer. If you use a certain cashback site and it works you could end up getting this for $105. There is a Mod software called Forge X that can be put on these to make it work better.

I ended up going with the 5m Pro with the enclosure for about $80 more, but part of me still thinks I just should have saved the money and got this one instead. Kind of just dipped my toe in the water for the cheapest price possible. And down the line one I see what I do with printing I could have bought something better.
