Community Reviews
Ooma Telo Air 2 is a simple wireless landline replacement that stands out for clear calls, easy setup, and long term reliability. The service works over Wi Fi, can be used from a mobile app, and has kept home phone service going for years in homes with Verizon FiOS, AT and older handset systems, and even a cabin. Pricing is usually around $6 to $9 a month in taxes and fees, with some premium plans costing more. The main tradeoffs are no battery, no SMS, and occasional connection problems or no line errors. It fits best as a dependable home phone for people who still want a traditional line.

That said, for elderly folks or people with hearing issues, the voice quality is largely better than via cell phones, at least that's what my parents say. If they have to make an important call with a doc or anything else really important, they will ditch the phone/FaceTime/WhatsApp and use their "VoIP Landline", even though technically it goes all through same the Internet. So, don't discard the use case just because you are young and grew up with smartphone.
