Great price for what may be the most capable 3d printer for $500. At $350 this is a steal.

I've owned my Q2 for a bit over a year, happy to answer any questions.

Better than the p1s? Similar price point at the moment

Is it safe to buy from aliexpress? Do you still get warranty and service from QIDI

Would you get this or the qidi plus 5? I have an Anycubic Kobra 3v2 currently.

If you plan to focus mainly on PLA/PETG, the p1s may be better for you due to the ease of use. The p1s can't even touch the q2 when it comes to engineering and high temp filaments.

Q2 has 370C nozzle, chamber heater up to 65C and a 270x270x255 build volume
P1S has 300C nozzle, no chamber heater, and 256x256x256 buiid volume.

I'd save the money and go Q2 as long as you don't need the extra build volume. Not sure if there are similar discounts on Plus5 right now.

I'm only interested in engineering filament, I could care less about multi color. What should I get sub $500? What would be the competitor for this at this price range?

Yes, this uses typical last gen AMS technology instead of the newer style with independent tool heads (IDEX, Snapmaker u1, etc). It poops on color changes and there will be waste associated.

I can make my own Active chamber but are the components the same between the Q2 and Q2C to warrant the price difference?

Honestly, I think this the Q2 is the choice.

Do your own research, but there is nothing sub $500 that has a 370C nozzle and 65C heated chamber. Closest comparisons would be Creality K2 Pro or Bambu X2D. Both cost more and they don't get close to 370C nozzle temp.

Fantastic deal on this. You get an actively heated chamber, high nozzle temps, and it is very consistent in what it does. I've had mine for months, and it's a joy. Though, my previous experience was coming from an Ender 3V2, so that was basically trying to have two hobbies 1) 3D printing and 2) troubleshooting why my 3D printer is currently not working. If I were to get another QIDI Q2, I'd go for the combo this time. The Box initially had some issues, but later runs are better. You get AMS. It's not fast, but if you want to combine PLA + PETG, you can get a better support removal experience.

I mainly use mine for ASA prints, and I can't recall a failed print from it. I did end up putting a dryer vent in my wall, with a duct fan, so I could vent outside. Also printed a riser, and a poop chute catcher. And I installed a new fan, and printed a new cooling duct. Also a new handle. It sounds like a lot. But the only one that I'd say are necessary is the riser. You can definitely get by without everything else (just have something to catch the poop from the back).

TLDR: If your only experience with 3D printing has been abysmal and you had an Ender 3, you might want to try this out if you're looking to give it another go.

Think I might actually pick this up. Hopefully it'll still be there tomorrow when I have the funds. Was looking at the U1 but I already have a couple printers that can do more than 4 colors. Would be nice to have a dedicated workhorse for high temp, like my dedicated mk4s for tpu.

Been using this printer for more than a year. Definitely the best printer you could get for under $509 if you're thinking about playing with engineering filament. My advice is if you buy this printer, do NOT upgrade the firmware past 1.1.1 and join the qidi discord.
