I'm on the fence about buying it at that price since it was around $280-290 just a few days ago

Take a look at the listing, because the prices seem to vary by a lot. Mine was 354. Minus 70, that's 284 (plus tax). Looks like urlhasbeenblocked has 25% cashback right now, too (be sure to use the $70 code that's shown in urlhasbeenblocked, otherwise they'll probably reject the cashback). (Edit: LOL Slickdeals does not like me mentioning the cashback site. But you probably know what I mean, otherwise just search for cashback sites and you'll find it.)

Seems like a good deal with 24G of memory, but I have no idea of "Firebat" is a legit brand.

I would highly recommend reinstalling windows from scratch as these kinds of off-brands have been known to include forms that would have spyware or malware.

Looks like the AMD Ryzen5 7640HS w/ 24GB RAM is OOS, at least for me in FL.

Firebat is fine, I have one I got on Ali Baba. It's about like any other Chinese mini pc, build quality is decent.

This seems like a pretty good deal but I can't get on board with soldered RAM. It's most of the value here, and it's gone if anything else breaks.

Seems like a legit Slickdeal when you consider just 16 GB of ddr5 RAM would run you around $250 bucks. I'm thinking just the 24GB of RAM in todays market is worth the $299 price.

Yeah I've been looking at the posting for a few days now and I can't replicate the 354 price before the code. It's showing around $415 and $388.

The price of equivalent pluggable ram is basically more than the cost of this minipc right now. It runs faster than the normal ram too.

Yeah firebat has been in market for a while, quality is ok but can't call decent. I have been using this machine for a while, once I somehow brick it by flashing a wrong BIOS file from China Firebat website, then I have to use CH341A cable to flash it back to the correct one.

Seems like when the 5 goes OOS, then the 7 is back in stock.

Low-power soldered RAM is not faster than regular socketed RAM. It just uses less power, which is great for portable devices like laptops and phones, but it doesn't add any real benefit to a plugged-in computer. The real benefit is for the manufacturer because it's overall cheaper for them to use than regular socketed RAM.

Depending on stock availability:
The FIREBAT F1 Mini PC AMD Ryzen 7 H-255 is ~$319 w/ coupon.
The FIREBAT F1 Mini PC AMD Ryzen 6 7640HS is ~$299 w/ coupon.

Maybe theoretically, but in practice soldered ram is generally faster at least in terms of MT/s

Can anyone recommend the cheapest, most reliable, basic W11 machine? Would it be some used Dell business machine? I wanted a small PC to do mild gaming on, which these mini-PCs seem to be ideal for, but the wife has vetoed me, since we each have our own laptops and all we need it for is something for family business stuff.

It'll replace a 15 to W10 machine that still works, and is STILL great for gaming, with its i7-920, 12 GB DDR3 and 1070 ti.

Ideal budget would be a couple hundred, with a SATA slot so I can steal the 4TB 3.5" drive from my old PC for.
