So when I use gift card, can I still use code in the app to make deals even cheaper?

Thanks, I just tried anyway, haven't buy anything yet, but it should work like cash. Redeemed in Groupon.

For you number crunchers....

Proceed with this caviat..

While this is 11.11% off face, YOU DO NOT EARN CASHBACK at any Cashback site paying with a groupon gift card.

Thus if a CB site is paying 15-20% CB on local deals and you pay solely with a gift card from Groupon, you won't earn it.

in most cases it works out ok as typically you'll earn 5-10% given the day that you'll forfeit, but at peak times, like BF and cyber Mon, I'm sure we'll see some aggressive CB rates exceeding 11%.

genuine question. How do you know cashback sites wont grant cb if paying using groupon bucks? I did it a few times in the past and remember still getting cb but it might be a long time ago or maybe my memory does not recall correctly. Is it in their fine prints hidden somewhere or your actual recent experience?

I always thought of gc is like cash or just a method of payment. Cashback sites are more likely tracking the qualified sales/transactions rather than way goods was paid. Or again maybe its just my obsolete assumption.

maybe the transaction is valid and you get your percent (20% CB) based on the total amount recorded that you paid which is $0.00 (or how they calculate your payment which is minus tax and shipping....and gift cards). Sounds like the new normal.

Only relaying my experience, maybe I'm not right about it across the board. I just know it's never tracked anytime I've used Bucks or a GC to pay. Usually Bucks are issued as a credit for a voucher where the merchant went under or wouldn't honor it. In that case, you already got paid CB when you first bought said groupon, so they aren't going to pay you twice on the same 'payment' per se.
